THE BUDDING LEADERS MARK WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY

‘We cannot always build the future for our youth but we can build our youth for the future’.
In December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 15th
July as “World Youth Skills Day”. The goal is to achieve better socio economic conditions
for today’s Youth as a means of addressing the challenges of unemployment and under
Employment. To raise awareness about the importance of investing in Youth Skills Development, a special assembly was conducted in Presidium Kalyan Vihar wherein students of Grade 3 participated in different  activities which triggered their scientific temper and enhanced their critical thinking skills. The assembly started with the prayer soulfully sung by the children. It was followed by the inspirational thought for the day and a speech on the significance of the
‘Youth Skills Day’. It was a kaleidoscope of different activities that were witnessed to mark the event of ‘World Youth Skills Day’.

LITTLE PRESIDIANS PRESENT A SPECIAL ASSEMBLY ON TIME MANAGEMENT

Time management is one of the key factors to success in any field of work. It is important for our personal life and for our career. Time management teaches us patience and how to tackle difficult tasks in a given space of time. If we wish to succeed in achieving our short term and long term goals we need to manage our time effectively. Keeping this in mind, the students of Grades 1 to 3 presented a special assembly on Time Management. It commenced with a speech followed by a skit. The skit was based on classroom situations wherein an enactment was done by students to highlight wastage of time leading to incompletion of their work on time. The teachers also emphasized on the importance of setting priorities right in life. The assembly concluded with Dohas by Kabirji. Time Management is very significant for every individual. Whether you are a student, homemaker, business person or a working professional, if you are able to manage your time efficiently, you wouldn’t be far from attaining your goals.

STUDENTS ACCORDED WITH A WARM WELCOME AFTER SUMMER VACATIONS

The silence in the Presidium campus was broken with the chirping of happy students as the school gates opened after the holidays. The students were back in school after a long summer break. A ‘Welcome Back to School’ assembly was hosted to motivate students for another happy and peppy term ahead. Students were accorded a warm welcome with joyful faces by their teachers. The assembly began with the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, infusing an aura of positivity. The welcome speech and foot-tapping dance performance by students of Grades 2 and 3 filled everyone with liveliness and happiness. Students enjoyed fun-filled activities like ‘What Do You Want From Me Today’, ‘Tic-Tac-Toe’; and ‘Monster Feet’. The event culminated with the school song followed by the National Anthem. Everyone enjoyed their day at school and  walked back to their homes with bright faces, eager to witness what else session held for them.

STUDENTS PUT ON CREATIVE HATS FOR DRAWING & COLOURING COMPETITION

Happiness comes from creative efforts. The joy of dreaming, creating and expressing one's thoughts by drawing and painting is unparalleled. To explore the creative minds an Intra Class Drawing and Colouring Competition was organised for our young Presidians. We firmly believe that art is a natural means of communication and learning for children. Presidians got a platform to demonstrate their creative expressions by painting their imagination on the canvas. The participants created magical expressions with their mind’s eye and aesthetic exploration. The competition not only served its sole purpose but also gave a platform to our budding artists to display their vivid ideas.

ORATORS ENHANCE CONFIDENCE THROUGH RHYME RECITATION COMPETITION

Recitation is one of the important and effective modes of learning a language and appreciating a piece of literature. Rhyme is an art of expression of thoughts and understanding towards English literature and develops student’s power of imagination. Taking all these facts into reflection, the children got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence at an Intra Class Rhyme Recitation Competition organised by Storytellers Academy of Mass Communication for our little Presidians of Kalyan Vihar.
The competition inspired the children to come forward and recite on stage. They came up with different poems and recited them with great zeal and enthusiasm. At Presidium, we, strongly believes that such competitions help the students to overcome their stage fear, enhance their confidence and develop their overall personality.

PRESIDIANS MARK THE AUSPICIOUS OCCASION OF BUDDHA PURNIMA

India is a secular country, where all faiths and religions are having equal importance.
Following the same and to mark the auspicious occasion of Budhh Purnima, a special
assembly was held by the students of Grade 3. They were enlightened about the teachings of Lord Budhha like caring for all, living a simple life and believing in God to free us from suffering. Children also chanted the Budhhism Mantra “Buddham saranam gacchami” .It is believed that it becomes a real joy to take these refuges, and even just their recitation inspires the mind.

CELEBRATING THE EVERLASTING ‘MOTHER-CHILD’ BOND ON MOTHER’S DAY

Mother’s Day is a special day for all children and mothers as; it celebrates the bond of love and affection that is everlasting. Keeping this relationship of love and closeness in mind, the students of Grades 4 & 5 of Presidium Kalyan Vihar hosted a special assembly on Mother’s Day. A series of performances were planned to honour and appreciate all mothers. Poems, songs, dance performances and enactments mesmerized the audience, as the children put their best foot forward. All the performances glorified the mothers as God, Teacher, Friend, Philosopher and Guide. To an extent, the assembly emphasized that a mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. There was immense joy and excitement among the students and the celebration ended with great memories to be cherished for the rest of their lives.

NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY DAY: CELEBRATING THE SHAPERS OF TECHNOLOGY!

Presidians celebrated National Technology Day on 11th May to commemorate India’s scientific advancement. On 11 May, 1998 India successfully tested nuclear bombs in Pokhran and became the sixth country to join the elite nuclear club. India performed successful test firing of the Trishul missile on the same day. This was a matter of pride for all the citizens of India. The day also praises the significance of Science in our day to day lives. Students learnt and honoured the contribution of great scientists like A P J Abdul Kalam, C V Raman and Homi Bhabha.  They were also encouraged to develop a scientific attitude to probe, experiment, discover, innovate and invent. It is evident that National Technology Day is much more than the anniversary of a historical event. Like technology itself, it is a pathway to the future. So, it was a day of achievements of some of our best scientists and innovators, and their success in shaping technology into usable, commercial products and processes that change the lives of people.

PAYING A HEART RENDERING TRIBUTE TO GURUDEV– RABINDRANATH TAGORE

Bengal is not only famous for its rich and varied food tastes but also because of its diverse
culture. Rabindranath Tagore - a multifaceted personality, great poet, philosopher and painter
also hailed from this state. Rabindranath Jayanti is a celebration by people across the world. During this day, various shows are staged wherein songs, dances, poems and dramas are enacted and especially the ones being written by Tagore ji. Moving with a similar ritual, a special assembly was conducted with fervour and gaiety on by students of Grades 1 to 5 wherein after the school prayer, an inspirational song of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was sung by the children. Speeches on Rabindranath Tagore highlighting his qualities, achievements and work were given by students. A chorus song and a
dance on Ravindra Sangeet followed by poem recital depicting the life history of Tagore ji was
also the highlight of the assembly.
