Presidians celebrated National Technology Day on 11th May to commemorate India’s scientific advancement. On 11 May, 1998 India successfully tested nuclear bombs in Pokhran and became the sixth country to join the elite nuclear club. India performed successful test firing of the Trishul missile on the same day. This was a matter of pride for all the citizens of India. The day also praises the significance of Science in our day to day lives. Students learnt and honoured the contribution of great scientists like A P J Abdul Kalam, C V Raman and Homi Bhabha. They were also encouraged to develop a scientific attitude to probe, experiment, discover, innovate and invent. It is evident that National Technology Day is much more than the anniversary of a historical event. Like technology itself, it is a pathway to the future. So, it was a day of achievements of some of our best scientists and innovators, and their success in shaping technology into usable, commercial products and processes that change the lives of people.
