Creative writing is an art, it helps one express oneself better and has manifold benefits for a learner of the language. Grade 5 students learned about personal account or autobiography writing of animate and inanimate objects. Initially, they read the life story of characters like a frog, a bag, and a pencil. The exposure helped them understand the outline of an autobiography with essential components like physical appearance, background, important events, and hopes of the character from its future. Students further applied this knowledge and created personal accounts of various characters like a mobile phone, an umbrella, a peacock, a butterfly, a television, and a flower. This year, Presidians united on a virtual platform to defeat the darkness of disease and spread the light of joy and hope on the occasion of Diwali. The school dignitaries graced the virtual assembly. Students highlighted the festival's importance through speeches, poems, and slogans on pollution-free and green Diwali. In their festive mood, they didn’t forget that we must not encourage bursting crackers as they emit a lot of smoke, causing air pollution and employing child labour. The celebratory spirits were pumped as they presented a colourful and vibrant array of cultural performances. Dances and songs representing the spread of light and cheer followed, filling the mystical atmosphere with rhythm and symphony. This activity engaged the interest & curiosity of our young Presidians. Students learned various uses of water, storage options available, etc. through the play-way method, which provided rich experiences. Further, activities like pouring water from one container to another, holding the containers' capacity, i.e., which container can hold more / less water, were also done. Our budding learners were engrossed in estimating the containers' capacity and were made aware that a jug always holds more water than glass, a spoon or a bowl, and so on.
