Creative writing is an art, it helps one express oneself better and has manifold benefits for a learner of the language. Grade 5 students learned about personal account or autobiography writing of animate and inanimate objects. Initially, they read the life story of characters like a frog, a bag, and a pencil. The exposure helped them understand the outline of an autobiography with essential components like physical appearance, background, important events, and hopes of the character from its future. Students further applied this knowledge and created personal accounts of various characters like a mobile phone, an umbrella, a peacock, a butterfly, a television, and a flower. Students etched beautiful storylines around their chosen characters and created engaging writing pieces of personal accounts. The exercise enhanced students' creative thoughts, encouraging them to employ their imaginations, suggest alternatives, and broaden their thought processes and problem-solving abilities.
