"Earning a livelihood by following some profession is better than living on charity."
Students of Grade 4 are learning about diverse types of occupations under the Social Science Theme: Life and Livelihood. Students explored various activities in which people are involved in
earning their living. They summarized their understanding during the online academic activity, wherein they represented occupations related to nature, occupations related to sports, traditional occupations, skilled and unskilled occupations. They performed roles related to several means of occupations confidently and shared their learning. The activity was instrumental in developing conceptual knowledge of the children and enhancing their awareness about the world around them. Taking examples of unusual occupations facilitated breaking stereotypes in students' minds, gave them an invincible perspective, and made them aware of how families serve as institutions for learning various skills. It broadened their thinking and helped them teach values like the dignity of labour, the importance of hard work to achieve goals, and nurturing talent.
