Education is an important part of a person’s upbringing. It is preparation for the future and therefore it is important to acquire one before it is too late. It gives people the tools to think logically and reason for themselves. However, the most important facet of education is LITERACY. Literacy is important because communication skills are otherwise limited to speech, technology becomes unusable and it is almost impossible to acquire a job. To highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies, International Literacy Day was celebrated at Presidium, Kalyan Vihar. The assembly kick started with a prayer soulfully sung by our young Presidians. It was followed by an inspirational thought of the day and a speech on the significance of International Literacy Day. Having rousing placards in their hands, voicing vociferous slogans and posters, the students of Grades 4 and 5 thronged the stage advocating the message, ‘Each One Teach One’. The little Presidians displayed scores of enthusiasm in awaking the masses for removing the social stigma of illiteracy.
